Picked up a Yamaha FXHO a few weeks back, been slowly setting it up for tow-in/long range riding and finally found a tow board yesterday in Haleiwa after a surf session at Pipe.
I was on a longboard but was getting schooled by a bodyboarder who snagged way more waves than I could. I believe it was Mike Stewart so that helps lessen the pain some for this longboarder. Or at least I think it was him - the last time I saw him was about 20 years ago at Ocean Beach, SF. Back then, I was still a sponger and so stoked to have my idol show up at my home break for a small contest. Nice waves out there but way too crowded/scary (the crowds, not the wave). I'll wait for those big N' swell days when Pipe looks too unrideable and pretty much everybody else sits on the beach or goes somewhere else. My favorite.

Guess I wanted to explain that my head isn't screwed on right like most of us here I assume.
My partner and I went out on the westside today to see if we could even stand up on the board - we did on our first try weeded out some speed/turning and pulling out issues and went looking for waves at Kaena Point. Too small and junky. Nothing to ride anywhere so we went spearfishing instead.
Here's to hoping for a real swell with reasonable conditions someday soon, and I look forward to meeting some of you guys soon. If you talk or yell at one of us and we don't respond, it's probably us since we're both deaf.
