Air-life rescue in Bundoran saves surfer

A surfer was air-lifted to Sligo General Hospital yesterday evening after a dramatic rescue operation in Bundoran.
The 20-year-old man was spotted by a passer-by clinging to the rocks at Rougey.
The passer-by alerted the rescue services on his mobile phone.
The Marine Co-ordination Centre at Malin Head tasked both the Bundoran RNLI lifeboat and the coastguard helicopter from Sligo to go the aid of the man at 5pm.
Bundoran Fire Birage were also called to the scene.
The man was in an inaccesible situation by boat and was air-lifted by the helicopter and taken directly to Sligo General Hospital.
He is said to have sustained abrasions to his head.
