Carlos arrived at San Francisco Airport Xmas evening, we had dinner waiting back at the house. This was the second Xmas I have spent with Carlos waiting for Mavericks to wake up, only this time we didn't feast at the local Denny's in Montara. We had a great evening, Shaniah got her uncle Carlos gift and we exchanged our abracos y beijos, had a great dinner and then what else? Of course we checked the swell models. LOL

This picture was taken at one of the opening cermonies for the Quiksilver Men Who Ride Mountains contest at Mavericks. Carlos still looks the same, but the crowds have gotten bigger at the new events Jeff Clark is hosting. This was such a fun day, Jay Moriarity was there then, brings back a lot of good memories.

This picture was taken in Mexico after Carlos won the ISA Big Wave Team Challenge event at Todos Santos. It was 1998. We've been best friends ever since this day. We both are so thankful for our friendship and sharing great places, big waves, cold cold weather, good food and our lives. He's a very good soul this one.

Burle e Maya aprimoram técnicas na Califórnia


Os big tow riders bazucas, Carlos Burle e Maya Gabeira, participaram na última semana, na Califórnia, do curso Ocean Safety - salvamento no oceano, ministrado por uma das figuras mais renomadas no assunto em todo o planeta, Shawn Alladio.

Atividades com esta são primordiais para quem pretende praticar tow-in em condições extremas, quando o resgate ao parceiro pode se tornar uma questão de vida ou morte.

Burle e Maya participaram do curso um dia após terem encarado um dos swells mais casca grossa de todos os tempos no pico de Ghost Trees, no norte da Califórnia.
