Dear jet ski owners
Please take note of the following:
1. Please ensure that no people are towed by or drive your jetski without
TSSA membership. It is illegal to have an unregistered person on the ski
within the TSSA.
2. Please carry all necessary papers of driver and tower on board plus all
safety equipment.
3. Pay launch fees at harbours if requested (You have to pay at Hout Bay).
4. Most importantly:
THE UNDERLYING RULE OF TOW SURFING WORLDWIDE IS THAT IF
YOU CAN'T PADDLE THEN DON'T TOW.
PADDLING INTO THREE FOOT WAVES IS NOT ADEQUATE TRAINING FOR TOWING INTO TWENTY FOOT WAVES. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE DRIVER CAN DRIVE AND THE SURFER IS REASONABLY SURE THAT HE CAN HANDLE WHATEVER COMES HIS WAY.
WE WANT TO KEEP THE SPORT SAFE.
ITS UP TO US JETSKI OWNERS TO POLICE THIS.
IN THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS WE HAVE SEEN PEOPLE TOWING WHO I DON'T BELIEVE HAVE EVER EVEN SURFED THE FACTORY.
5. Finally remember to book out with tel for the Table Mountain personnel: 786 56 56 before you go.
The reason for the above is that our exemption is coming up for renewal and we want it, and new areas, renewed for the next period.
