IF YOU are in trouble in the surf, then pray the North Burleigh rubber duck is on patrol.
The surf club won the Australian IRB championships for the sixth consecutive year at Shellharbour, NSW.
They notched the second biggest point score ever (49 points) and the second biggest winning margin (20 points).
Their booty included five gold medals and two silvers in eight events.
YOUNG GOLD Coast boardriders have a chance to try out one of the more extreme styles of surfing when the Super Tow-In Surfing Camp is held at Currumbin Alley this week.
Surf Camp director Brett Dowker said the day-long camps would introduce young surfing enthusiasts to the thrill of being towed into waves behind a jet-ski.
The camps are limited to six people per day and, after a solid safety tutorial about jet-skis, surfers will get the chance to try their hand at power-assisted surfing.
"Two campers at a time will tow/observe while the others surf our designated area under supervision,<WBR>" said Dowker. "Then we rotate groups (three rotations) until you are too tired or too hungry to continue.
"After a barbecue lunch we will continue with more of the same, fine-tuning skills right through until 3pm."
Dowker said Gold Coast chief lifeguard Warren Young supported the concept as there had been some safety issues relating to jet-ski use and the activity of towing-in.
The Super Tow-In Surf Camps are on each day until July 11 at Currumbin Alley and cost $100 per day.
